We love Port Moody as much as anyone, which is why we wanted to make sure we spent the time needed to really do it justice. By taking an up close and personal look at all the hidden gems and lovely little areas it has to offer, we hope we’ve delivered a guide that gives you a real sense of what the area is all about. Take your time to work through everything we have to say and you’re sure to find a place to base yourself that’s going to feel like home in no time at all. Now that you know our motivations, it’s time to take a look at our guide and see what catches your eye. Enjoy!
Port Moody Centre
One of the great things about Port Moody Centre has to be the huge variety of different types of home that it has to offer you and your family. Whether it’s a condo, townhome or a choice of a large number of detached homes, you’re sure to find something that feels right from the moment you arrive. You can also get a real sense of what the community is like by walking the streets and seeing for yourself just how open, safe and clean everything is. Ideal when you want to get a feel for the place as you make your final decision.
And just so we can sway you in the direction of one of our favourite spots, don’t forget that the beautiful Rocky Point Park will be just a few minutes away. This stunning area is a great place to relax, unwind and get away from the hustle and bustle that we all grow tired of from time to time. Ideal when you want to give yourself the time and space you need to work through the events of the day and get excited for what lies ahead.
College Park
Barnet Highway and Burnaby border off this charming part of the city and give you a sense of exactly where it’s located. While it’s away from the most hectic elements of the crowd, it’s still quick and easy to get right back into the heart of the action the moment the mood takes you.
Thanks to the heavy levels of investment in road infrastructure and public transportation, you can make your way to any corner of Vancouver in an hour or less. This gives you plenty of options that will allow you to enjoy real choice when it comes to everything from where to eat and hang out, to where you work and who you visit in the evenings. We think it’s going to be a prime contender on your shortlist of places to visit next.
Glenayre
This small subarea is located on the South West side of Port Moody and is situated near the iconic Simon Fraser University. These two things combine to make Glenayre one of the most sought after locations anywhere in Greater Vancouver. When you add in the communal atmosphere, and friendly nature of the vast majority of people who live there, you’ll be feeling at home as soon as you arrive. This is one of the reasons it’s become such a popular choice with students from all over Canada, and those who have travelled to study from much further afield.
North Shore Port Moody
If you’re someone who wants to be close to the natural wonder that is the North Shore, but still be able to get into Vancouver city for work and entertainment, this could be just the spot you’ve been looking for.
The charming nature of the place is ideal for anyone looking to take a break from the seemingly never-ending motion of the centre of Vancouver. Having so much wilderness and natural scenery not far from your front door allows you to escape the digital age and reconnect with where we all come from, whenever you feel the need. And if you don’t think that’s a big selling point, we think you’ll change your mind with nothing more than a quick day trip to see it all for yourself. You know you want to!
Loco
When the major oil refinery that created a boom in the town closed, you’d be forgiven for thinking it would become largely deserted by the end of the month. While some will say that it’s a heyday in terms of population numbers in many years in the past, Loco still offers a great base for anyone who wants to live life at their own pace. It’s a space that makes you feel welcome, doesn’t overwhelm you with constant traffic, and somewhere that will allow you to get away from it all without too much effort. Perfect when you want to find a way to restore your work-life balance in a way that can be rather tricky when you’re surrounded by the urban hive that is Vancouver.
Heritage Woods
For those looking for a sedate, leafy area, your search is very much over! The beauty of Heritage Woods is that it combines modern living with a quaint, understated charm that makes you feel welcome and at ease in equal measure. Ideal when you want to sleep easy knowing you’ve made the right choice on your very first night there.
If you want to be able to take it easy, a quick walk in nature before bedtime each night will allow you to get the natural pause in life that makes you feel whole again.
Pleasantside
The eastern suburbs are home to one of the best kept secrets that anyone with a young family really needs to know about. We wanted to highlight it here so you don’t miss out, and with good reason.
Clean streets, plenty of healthcare and schooling options, and an open and community-driven culture all make Pleasantside a location surely worthy of its name. Add in the fact that you can easily get to the rest of Vancouver and you have a corner of the city that’s sure to be the perfect fit for your dream way of life.
Coronation Park & Inlet Centre
This is the place to be when you want to see nature in all its glory. The way in which the natural flourishing of the plant life works in perfect harmony with the manmade structures really does have to be seen to be believed.
And as for the Inlet Centre Station, you’re getting easy access to all the rest of the city thanks to a fantastic network that always continues to evolve. Ideal when you want to take the time to base yourself somewhere that feels like it’s setting you free in a way that’s hard to put into words from the moment you arrive.
