Canada Day 2020 will be very different this year due to COVID-19 and social distancing measures, but that doesn’t mean the party can’t go on. Head online to see live streams and performances by Canada’s top artists in the opinion of hscr.com

Canada Day Together 

Government of Canada’s Canada Day celebrations will take place online this year, hosted by Pierre-Yves Lord and Serena Ryder. The presentation will feature collaborations between performers across Canada, including in Toronto, Vancouver, and Halifax. The artists featured are Alanis Morisette, Avril Lavigne, Srah McLachlan, Shane Koyczan, Alan Doyle, The Sheepdogs, Joel Plaskett, and more. Several interactive activity packs are also available online at the celebration’s website.  STREAM ONLINE

Canada Day – House Party

The Canada Day – House Party is a host of Canadian performances at a virtual music festival July 1 that has a line-up that includes Bonjay, Caveboy, Dean Brody, Dear Rouge, Gord Sinclair of The Tragically Hip, Sam Roberts Band, The Trews, and more. This event is also raising money for the Canadian Mental Health Association.

General admission is free, and you can buy a VIP package for $34.95, that comes with a Roots x CDHP branded t-shirt, a pack-of Tic-Tac X-Freeze mints and a $10 donation to the CMHA. STREAM ONLINE

Abbotsford: Celebrate Canada

Abbotsford is worth tuning in to for the virtual Canada Day celebration – for their pet parade! Pets will be able to strut their fluff and show off their Canadian pride via an online Livestream. At the same time, they will see local artists performing online. Online play zones are also available and have prizes available. Participants in the online festivities will also have the chance to help choose the theme and artwork for next year’s Canada Day by voting online on July 1. STREAM ONLINE 

Coquitlam Celebrates Canada Day at Home!

Coquitlam is going to broadcast all day, with its entertainment to begin at noon and wrap up with its final act at 6:15 p.m. The full-day mix of live and pre-recorded segments will be live-streamed and will include Heather Jolley Highland Dancers, Silk & Skins and The Heels. #WeLoveDelta – Canada Day Block Parties

Delta encourages residents to host their own physically distanced block parties this year on front lawns and balconies. Any neighborhoods that want to host a block party can check with the city to receive a #WeLoveDelta Block Box or Mini Box, with all the stuff you need to set up a block party. MORE INFO

Township of Langley: Virtual Canada Day

Norden the Magician, Langley Ukulele Ensemble, Norine Braun, and Penny Pom Pom are among the many entertainment offerings at the Township of Langley’s – Virtual Canada Day. With content from Science World, the Greater Vancouver Zoo, the Fraser Valley Regional Library, and the Langley Centennial Museum. MORE INFO

Maple Ridge: Canada Day

Maple Ridge is going online with its Canada Day celebration this year, complete with performances from The Faceplants, Aaron Pritchett, Me and Mae, magician Shawn Farquhar, and dance troupes. The event will also include a four-ingredient cooking challenge. Home bakers, cooks, and experimenters have until June 24 to submit their signature dish that celebrates their heritage and cultural diversity using only four ingredients. STREAM ONLINE

New Westminster: Virtual Canada Day

New Westminster encourages residents to host their own Bubble Picnic with their own quarantine bubble family and friends. All while streaming a virtual fireworks show hosted by the city. The fireworks will begin at 10 a.m. and are free to anyone with the Snapd Hub App. There is also a Canada Rocks art project, inviting locals to pick a smooth rock, paint it, and put it out along the pathway of the Millennium Trail between June 19 and 30. The stones will spell Canada on the grassy area by the V point of the trail for two days. MORE INFO

Canada Day North Vancouver 2020

The Rotary Club of Lions Gate has hosted Canada Day events for over 25 years. Still, they won’t let COVID-19 stop them from celebrating this year. The club is moving its activities online, with virtual performances, concerts, and more. Entertainers include Melanie Dekker, The Benders, Adam Woodall, Early Spirit, and more. Events take place from 1 – 2:30 p.m. on July 1 and will stream on Facebook. North Vancouver residents can share Canada Day photos with the hashtag #NVCanadaDay2020. STREAM ONLINE 

Virtual Surrey Canada Day

Surrey’s annual Canada Day celebration will head online this year, with a live-streamed show with kids’ and seniors’ segments, musical entertainment, virtual tours, dance lessons, a rodeo tribute, and a virtual firework finale. There will be performances by 54-40, Bif Naked, Colin James, Toque and local Surrey artists Ashley Pater, Hotel Mira, Sleepy Gonzalas, The Promised, Wild Moccasins, and more. Four-time Olympic gold medalist Hayley Wickenheiser will host the free online event. Ryan Guldemond of Mother Mother, Said the Whale and The Beaches have pulled out of the event. Family hour takes place from 1030 to 11:30 a.m., with regular programming from 6 to 9 p.m. STREAM ONLINE 

West Vancouver: Canada Day

Open your windows and let the sounds of West Vancouver’s Canada Day celebrations flood your home. Several rooftop performances will take place in Ambleside, Dundarave, and the Horseshoe Bay area for July 1. You’ll be able to hear the bands from your home. However, you won’t be able to see them. (Residents are asked not to assemble on the streets.) At 7 p.m., after the performances wrap, residents are invited to stand in their yards or balconies to join a community-wide singalong of O Canada, after cheering healthcare workers. MORE INFO

White Rock’s Virtual Canada Day by the Bay

White Rock’s online Canada Day celebrations will be headlined by country music group The Washboard Union and hosted by Michael Partridge of The Drama Class. Mark Donnelly, also known as Mr. O Canada, will lead an O Canada singalong. Immediately following the singalong, there will be a live-streamed concert by Ludic from Blue Front Studios, and a comedy set by John Cullen. The event will be live-streamed on YouTube or Facebook, beginning at 7 p.m. STREAM ONLINE
